What is Black Friday?

The Black Friday is the fourth Friday of November. Black Friday is an annual marketing holiday in the U.S. offering best deals and discounts on about any product online and in stores. Before Christmas, Black Friday is the biggest selling event for buyers. Retailers encourage consumers with big sales and discounts on almost all products with a limited stock.

After the Thanksgiving Day that comes on the fourth Thursday of November, Black Friday is the most famous shopping festival of the year. It is viewed as the start of holiday shopping season. At Black Friday, retailers and stores offers lowest discounts and best sales on electronics, toys, garments, etc. At first black Friday was just for one day but now it has extended to Cyber Monday, the first Monday after Black Friday.

The origin of the term, Black Friday may be referred to the term "in the black," that represents profit; however, many a retailer runs their business at a loss during the whole year," in the red''. Therefore, Black Friday is the compensation for that loss. In addition, the term, according to research from Google, traces back to the financial crisis of the U.S. in gold market on September 24, 1869, in Philadelphia.

On Black Friday, special promotions are widely seen online and in-stores. The internet has made it easy to advertise Black Friday beyond the U.S. The holiday is a very good boost to growth for retailers. The Black Friday is a golden opportunity for the poor and rich alike. The malls, stores and outlets open early in the morning till late night. The shoppers impatiently wait in line for hours for the great deal, while others opt to avoid the crowds in stores and malls and go shopping online instead.

However, in Islam, Friday is a blessed day. It is the most valued and sacred day. For Muslims, Friday is no less than Eid Festivals. In addition, black color or day is considered a sign of mourning, sad or unfortunate. Thus, Friday in Islam can never be black.

Black Friday this year is scheduled on November 25, while Cyber Monday on November 28.
